Dress for less

A credit card was stolen from a wallet in a vehicle parked in the 12600 block of Southeast 81st Place between March 7 and 8. The resident reported the thief used the card for a more than $250 shopping spree at a Ross department store.

Stolen plates

A license plate was taken from a car parked in the 6900 block of 115th Court Southeast March 7.

Burgled renovation

More than $1,250 worth of tools was taken from an unoccupied house undergoing renovation in the 7600 block of 116th Avenue Southeast. Read more

Popular pine tree

A resident reported Jan. 30 that someone cut several branches off an expensive pine tree in her yard in the 12800 block of Southeast 80th Way. The homeowner valued the damage at $500 and said she believes someone is using the pine resin to make expensive medicines.

Whistle while you work

A resident reported two suspects approached his car in the 7100 block of 115th Court Southeast in the early morning Feb. 1. The vehicle owner, while peering through his home’s window, whistled out toward the thieves and scared them away. Read more

Olivia Pope approved

About $500 worth of goods, including six bottles of red and white wine, was stolen from a storage locker in the 6800 block of 132nd Place Southeast between Dec. 22 and Jan. 5.

Dump and run

An unknown suspect dropped a bunch of assorted mail by a home in the 8400 block of 116th Avenue Southeast between Jan. 1 and 2. In all, there were 37 pieces of mail, all belonging to different Newcastle residents.

It happened again at the corner of Newcastle Way and 112th Avenue Southeast between Jan. 1 and 2. The homeowner collected the mail and gave it to City Hall. Read more

License revoked

A Newcastle patrol officer pulled over the driver of a speeding white truck in the 7600 block of Coal Creek Parkway Southeast Nov. 2. The driver, who said he was late for an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, was driving while his license was suspended for unpaid tickets.

 

Shattered glass

Police responded to a reported assault at Castle Creek Apartments, 6900 132nd Place S.E., Nov. 3 after a woman said someone threw a small glass object near her patio. The shattered glass did not injure the woman, and she said she didn’t know who threw it or where it came from. Read more

Loony letter

Newcastle staff alerted police Sept. 2 after receiving a suspicious letter at City Hall, 12835 Newcastle Way, Suite 200. The letter, titled “Nuclear war is in bible prophecy,” contained odd ramblings about the bible, Satan and the “mark of the beast.” Police reviewed the letter, with a return address from California, and determined there were no explicit threats.

Comb caper

A man was banned from the Bartell Drugs store, 6939 Coal Creek Parkway S.E., after attempting to steal a $2.49 comb Sept. 3.

Anonymous assault

Two women were assaulted by a group of unknown suspects while walking in the 13300 block of Southeast 95th Way between 10:30-11:30 p.m. Sept. 5. The two sisters said a group of people started punching, kicking and pulling their hair. Police met the duo, who said they couldn’t identify any suspects and wouldn’t assist with prosecution, at Overlake Hospital. Read more

Astro van

A neighbor in the 7300 block of 134th Avenue Southeast reported seeing a suspicious red 1980s Astro van casing the neighborhood the early morning of Aug. 1. She saw the van park next to a neighbor’s Honda Civic for 10 minutes. It was later found that the Civic was broken into and had items missing.

License larceny

License plates were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 7400 block of Newcastle Golf Club Road between July 22 and Aug. 2.

Third time’s the charm

The same vehicle, a 1997 Honda Civic, was stolen between Aug. 2 and 3 from the Coal Creek Park Condominiums, 13209 Newcastle Way, for the third time in the last eight months. Read more

Close call

A man and seven of his friends were riding their bikes along Southeast May Valley Road, just east of Coal Creek Parkway, when a car missed the group by inches May 31. The cyclist said he believed the driver’s actions were intentional.

 

Blasphemy

A rosary featuring a photo of the pope was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 8300 block of 126th Place Southeast between May 31 and June 1.

Library disturbance

Police responded to the Newcastle Library, 12901 Newcastle Way, on April 2 after a Newcastle mother reported her teenage son refused to come home and was instead watching pornography on the library computers. Police were eventually able to escort him home in a patrol car.

 

Take it away

A woman turned in an unwanted air pistol to Newcastle City Hall, 12835 Newcastle Way, on April 4. The pistol belonged to her ex-husband and she did not want it in her home.

Rifle rip-off

An unknown suspect entered a home in the 12500 block of Southeast 70th Street and stole a 40-year-old rifle March 5. The suspect entered the residence through a second floor, unlocked sliding door.

A puppy surprise

A woman walking her dog in the vicinity of Southeast 86th Street and 129th Avenue Southeast noticed her pooch had something in his mouth March 5. It was a chain of three intertwined necklaces. She turned the jewelry in at Newcastle City Hall on March 11 as found property.

Hot and cold

A large industrial heater and three box fans, together valued at about $2,500, were stolen from an under-construction housing development in the 8100 block of 134th Court Southeast between Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.

 

Stolen laptop

An unknown suspect shattered the rear window of a car in the parking lot of the Cedar Rim Apartments, 7920 110th Ave. S.E., between Feb. 2 and 3, taking a backpack and laptop valued at about $1,000.

 

Strike a pose

A resident reported Feb. 3 that more than $5,000 worth of photography equipment was stolen from a car parked in the 12600 block of Southeast 81st Court between Jan. 21 and 24. There was no sign of forced entry.
