Newcastle News was founded in 1999 at the suggestion of
two city council members who realized the need for their city
to have a newspaper. It is now the city's primary
communication link, designed to reflect the freshness
and pride of a growing suburban city.
The News serves the City of Newcastle, Washington (pop.
8,890, incorporated in 1994) This small King County city
of only 4.4 square miles is attractive to families who
appreciate the location between Bellevue and Renton
along the I-405 corridor on the east side of Lake
Washington at the foot of Cougar Mountain.
The News is a free distribution tabloid format, mailed
to nearly 5,000 homes in and near Newcastle in zip codes
98056 and 98059. Copies are also available on local
newsstands.
News coverage by professional journalists includes city
government, growth and development, schools, recreation,
achievements, community events including Newcastle Days
in September, opinion and features.
Newcastle News is published by Issaquah Press, Inc. and
shares offices with its sister publications, The
Issaquah Press (founded 1900) and Sammamish Review
(founded 1992). Issaquah Press, Inc. is an affiliate of
Seattle Times Company. |
