Marijuana busts

Two Liberty High School students were caught smoking marijuana in a car near campus, 16655 S.E. 136th St., Renton, during their lunch period just after 11 a.m. Nov. 12. The school resource officer spotted the students in the car and reported that all of the windows were fogged up and a large amount of smoke was drifting out from inside. He said the car smelled strongly of marijuana, and he confronted the students, who admitted they were smoking. The students said they bought the marijuana from a third student a boys bathroom near the main commons area for $20. All three students were expelled.

A student was arrested at Liberty High School just after 1 p.m. Nov. 12 after one of the school’s assistant principals searched the student’s vehicle — parked on school property — and found marijuana. The assistant principal had permission to search the vehicle, and the school resource officer was present. The assistant principal pinpointed the student while investigating the sale of marijuana on school property. The student was expelled and arrested.
