Interim City Manager Rob Wyman appointed Community Development Director Steve Roberge to take over as interim Public Works director after Public Works Director Maiya Andrews resigned Feb. 10.
“We’ll make it work in the interim,” Roberge said.
He said his talented fellow city staff members would make his dual duties possible.
“We have a great staff in place,” he said.
Wyman said Roberge is a good temporary replacement for Andrews.
“Steve has clearly demonstrated the breadth of skills required to handle both positions, and already has the respect of the Public Works staff earned from the historical close working relationship between the two departments,” Wyman wrote in an e-mail.
“The transition so far has been even more seamless than I could have possibly hoped for, and I anticipate that to continue until we are able to fill the position on a permanent basis,” he wrote.
Mayor John Dulcich also said he was confident in Wyman’s decision to appoint Roberge, and he said Roberge is a very capable person.
A majority of the City Council must approve a new permanent Public Works director.
