This year’s Diamond Awards were presented to outstanding members of the community this afternoon at The Golf Club at Newcastle.
In the youth category, awards were presented to Jeff Hansen and John Stiller for their work with Newcastle Weed Warriors, and Neil Chakravarty for his Eagle Scout project, which involved replacing 62 trails sign plates across the city.
The community service award was presented to Parks Commission Vice Chair Koleen Morris, who took the leading role in organizing this year’s Newcastle Days celebration.
Newcastle mayor creates two new committees

Mayor John Dulcich created two new committees for the city – the Library Development Committee and the Community, Communications and Outreach Committee.
The library committee, to be temporary and similar to the YMCA Committee, was created to facilitate and ensure groundbreaking of Newcastle library. Read more
