Newcastle’s Lindsey Anderson named US Lacrosse national youth coach of year

Newcastle resident and youth lacrosse coach Lindsey Anderson has been named by US Lacrosse as its 2013 National Girls Youth Coach of the Year.

Anderson, a middle school girls coach and youth coach mentor with the Quick Styx youth lacrosse program on Seattle’s Queen Anne Hill, was nominated for the honor by a 14-year-old player on her middle school team.

Lacrosse club hosts throw-arounds

The Issaquah School District women’s lacrosse club will host throw-arounds on Wednesday nights for returning players or girls new to lacrosse.

The event is open to girls entering grades nine through 12 at Liberty High School, Issaquah High School or Skyline High School, and who are interested in playing lacrosse next season. Throw-arounds are from 5-7 p.m. and start June 23 at the Central Park fields in the Issaquah Highlands.
