Newcastle students graduate from college

  • Luc Charbonneau, of Newcastle, graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, with a Bachelor of Arts in geology.
  • Alexander Hopper, of Newcastle, graduated May 28, with a Bachelor of Arts from the School of Liberal Arts at Tulane University, in New Orleans.
  • Cassandra Beck, of Newcastle, graduated June 20 from Marylhurst University, in Marylhurst, Oregon, with a Bachelor of Science in business management.
  • Reid Fredrickson, of Newcastle, graduated May 24, with a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of San Diego, in San Diego, California.

A 2014 Hazen High School graduate adjusts her cap at the Highlanders’ graduation ceremony last year. Both Liberty and Hazen students will receive their diplomas June 12.

As another school year comes to a close, local public high schools are getting set to celebrate the class of 2015 with the annual commencement ceremonies.

Hazen High School will honor its graduates at 9 a.m. June 12 at the ShoWare Center, 625 W. James St., Kent.

Liberty High School will hold its ceremony at 8 p.m. June 12 at Safeco Field, 1250 First Ave. S., Seattle.

You endured the tests, the homework, the projects, the classes, the early start times and the occasional sleepless night to get to this point — right here, right now, the finish line is in sight.

Liberty and Hazen high school seniors will receive their diplomas at separate ceremonies June 12. Hazen’s is at the Kent ShoWare Center, while Liberty’s is at Safeco Field.

Graduation comes to Newcastle News in July

Congratulations to the class of 2011!

Photo coverage of graduation day will be presented in the July edition of Newcastle News.

Liberty and Hazen high schools will have commencement celebrations this month.

Purchase tickets to Liberty’s graduation in advance through the bookkeeper. Tickets will also be sold the day of graduation at Safeco Field, where the ceremony will be held.

Only seniors may purchase tickets to Hazen’s graduation, which will be at ShoWare Events Center in Kent.

Liberty High School

  • Safeco Field
  • Valedictorian: Jay Chakravarty
  • Seniors Boyd Cottom, J.D. Charest* and Bo Woo will speak.
  • Issaquah School District Board Member Brian Deagle will accept the class.

  • ShoWare Events Center in Kent
  • Seniors Farheen Siddiqui, Nick Kawamoto and Tasha McQuade will speak.
  • Renton School District Board President Al Talley will accept the class.
