Chamber president steps down

A job opportunity is pulling Paul Reynolds, Regency Newcastle’s sales and marketing director, away from the area, forcing him to step down as president of the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce.

The announcement was made at the chamber’s Feb. 12 luncheon. Chamber Vice President Sara Biancofiori will take over the role of president. Biancofiori is the Coal Creek Family YMCA’s associate executive director.

Former chamber president Angela Wingate will fill the vacant vice president position.

Chamber hires part-time executive director

The Greater Newcastle Chamber of Commerce announced that it has hired Imelda Dulcich as its new part-time executive director, in a statement released today.

The executive director is responsible for implementing the policies of the chamber’s board of directors and administering the approved budget.

Dulcich is also expected to provide more opportunities for Newcastle businesses to market their companies with the addition of a blog to the existing website and a greater presence on the chamber’s social media platforms. Read more

City to honor volunteers at event

The city of Newcastle will recognize people who have donated their time and service in various projects and events over the past year at a volunteer appreciation event at 6 p.m. Jan. 25 in the City Hall Council Chambers.

Those recognized will include Grace Stiller for her work to coordinate Newcastle Days; Angela Wingate for her work to garner support from local businesses for Newcastle Days; and the city’s Public Works Department for its work coordinating events and projects throughout the year.

The event is free and open to the public and includes treats and a gift for volunteers.
