Newcastle is experiencing a rash of package thefts this holiday season.

“If you have packages being delivered today, get them off your porch as soon as possible,” Police Chief Melinda Irvine said in an e-alert.

If you see an unauthorized person removing items from a neighbor’s porch, do not hesitate to call 911 with a vehicle description, including license plate if possible, and suspect information so officers can investigate.

Officers are checking on a couple of tips now. If you have video from surveillance cameras you believe would be helpful, send it to police@ci.newcastle.wa.us.

Call the police non-emergency dispatch number, 206-296-3311, to report suspicious activity or 911 if you are reporting an emergency.

Whenever possible, plan to be home when your packages are scheduled for delivery or have them delivered to an alternate location, such as your workplace.
