Astro van

A neighbor in the 7300 block of 134th Avenue Southeast reported seeing a suspicious red 1980s Astro van casing the neighborhood the early morning of Aug. 1. She saw the van park next to a neighbor’s Honda Civic for 10 minutes. It was later found that the Civic was broken into and had items missing.

License larceny

License plates were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 7400 block of Newcastle Golf Club Road between July 22 and Aug. 2.

Third time’s the charm

The same vehicle, a 1997 Honda Civic, was stolen between Aug. 2 and 3 from the Coal Creek Park Condominiums, 13209 Newcastle Way, for the third time in the last eight months.

Rude rider

Police responded to a suspicious circumstances call in the 14200 block of Southeast 87th Place after a cab driver reported that after dropping off his male passenger behind a tree, the man possibly went through the back yard of a house Aug. 3. Officers noticed that the back gate of a home was open, but it led to a trail toward a greenbelt next to the house.

Side-door heist

More than $6,000 worth of items, including golf clubs and shoes, was stolen from a garage in the 14000 block of Southeast 92nd Street, after an unknown suspect gained entry through an unlocked side garage door Aug. 3.

Through the window

An unknown suspect gained entry to a Walkers Run Condominiums unit, 7453 Newcastle Golf Club Road, by breaking and crawling through a bedroom window Aug. 6. The suspect stole a safe that had cash, watches and personal documents.

Grill marks

Police responded to a suspicious circumstances call, after a supervisor found an unknown bag of tools by the public grill at the Karbon Apartments, 6802 Coal Creek Parkway S.E., between Aug. 6 and 7. The supervisor said it looked like someone might have tried to steal the barbecue, but was scared away.

Fries with that shake?

An unknown person driving a jeep threw a “milkshake or McFlurry” type drink at a passing car in the 12400 block of Southeast 89th Place Aug. 10. The driver of the milkshake-splashed windshield said it caused a crack in the window.

Lawn surprise

A trash bag filled with staplers, tools and rubber gloves was found on the lawn of a home in the 8400 block of 126th Place Southeast Aug. 12. Police later located the items’ owner in the 12700 block of Southeast 86th Place. The owner said the items were stolen from her car the night before, but a charger and sunglasses were still missing.

Jewelry debauchery

Police responded to a glass break alarm at Newcastle Jewelers, 6931 Coal Creek Parkway S.E., the early morning of Aug. 13. A few watches were taken and displays knocked over, though most everything of significant value was secured in the safe.


A $1,500 set of golf clubs and a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses were taken from an unlocked car parked in the 9000 block of 139th Avenue Southeast between Aug. 14 and 15.

Liquid courage

An unknown man stole an estimated $250 in liquor from the Newcastle QFC, 6940 Coal Creek Parkway S.E., on Aug. 16.
