The Hazen High School band practices on the school field as they prepare for the 2014-2015 school year.

Hazen fanatics can get a head-start on catching Highlander fever with an Aug. 22 performance by the school’s band.

The Hazen band students, under the director of Chris Coy, director of bands and orchestras, are hard at work this week in band camp, as they prepare for a new school year.

They will present what they’ve learned 3 p.m. Aug. 22 in a special community concert on the Hazen football field, 1101 Hoquiam Ave. N.E.

Accompanied by the award-winning Hazen cheer squad, the concert will serve as a Friday Night Lights dress-rehearsal, so families and students are encouraged to come watch the band perform, and learn the cheers and pep-rally calls for the upcoming season of football games.
