Three public hearings on June 17 City Council agenda
June 16, 2014
NEW — 3:30 p.m. June 16, 2014
The Newcastle City Council will meet at City Hall for the first time this month June 17, with a regular meeting agenda that calls for three public hearings.
The first public hearing is attached to discussion of the city’s 2015-2020 Transportation Improvement Program. The TIP is a state-required planning tool that ensures each city maintains advanced plans toward carrying out a coordinated transportation program.
The second public hearing is connected to discussion of the city’s transportation impact fee update and the third is in conjunction with a talk about the city’s parks impact fee.
Impact fees are a comprehensive grouping of charges based on new development within a local municipality. These fees are assessed to pay for capital facility improvement projects necessitated by new development.
Finally, the City Council will discuss using a piece of city-owned property for an affordable-housing development.
Prior to the meeting, the council will hold an hourlong executive session to privately discuss the lease or purchase of real estate.
