Fish out your vintage clothes and dancing shoes, and join the Hazen High School jazz band for a night of dancing May 29.
The band will take over the Rocking Horse Dance Barn for a family-friendly dance party to benefit the school’s band program.
It all starts at 7 p.m. with dance lessons, showing attendees how one cut-a-rug during the big-band swing days. The Hazen band will then perform tunes by swing-era greats from 7:45 -9:30 p.m.
Admission is $5, but donations to the Hazen band program are encouraged. All ages are invited.
The Hazen Band has performed numerous community events this year, including the grand reopening of the Albertson’s, Newcastle Earth Day at Lake Boren and Renton Music at The Landing.
“This is all part of our long-term focus to grow the music program at Hazen, and doing extensive community outreach,” said Hazen’s music director, Christopher Coy. “We are busy raising funds to resurrect the marching band program that flourished at Hazen many years ago. I come from Ohio, and nearly every high school there has a marching band, that adds so much to community and sporting events.”
The Rocking Horse Dance Barn is at 11820 150th Ave. S.E., Renton, just beside Apollo Elementary School.
