The Newcastle City Council will host its second meeting of the year Jan. 21.

It will start with a 6 p.m. study session when representatives from the King County Sheriff’s Office will review its partnership agreement with city.

The regular meeting begins at 7 p.m. with a presentation from Newcastle Library staff member Amy Eggler, who will update the City Council about the state of the library.

The City Council is also expected to review the city’s legislative agenda for 2014 and name a new member to fill the spot vacated by John Drescher on the Planning Commission.

Staff will also present a proposal to pursue a state grant to construct a bridge over May Creek that would link a Newcastle trail to the regional trail system.
