The Newcastle City Council will meet to review plans for potential Lake Boren Park improvements prior to their regular Sept. 17 meeting.

The City Council directed staff to brainstorm future plans for the park, and the staff will present that information at a 6 p.m. study session.

Budget season is fast approaching, so the council will review a 2014 budget calendar during the general meeting that begins at 7 p.m.

Mayor Rich Crispo is also expected to give an update on where the city stands with the Newcastle Historical Society. In August, the City Council reviewed an ordinance that would incorporate the Newcastle Historical Society into the city’s operations as an official standing committee, though no action was taken.
