A King County Sheriff’s Office car sits outside the Newcastle Bank of America after two men robbed the bank July 1.

The Newcastle branch of Bank of America was robbed at about 4:40 p.m. July 1, according to King County Sheriff’s Office Detective Jason Stanley.

Two armed suspects, described as black males, robbed the bank and ran from the scene, he said. While wearing masks, one ran north through the parking lot, while the other went east. The suspects are still at large.

The suspects had some type of firearms, Stanley said, describing the incident as “a takeover style robbery.”

“They were very aggressive and really pushed people around and went away with some money,” he said.

No one was hurt during the incident, though.

Coal Creek Family YMCA was put on lockdown for about 30 minutes July 1, while police searched the area.

King County Sheriff deputies and personnel from Newcastle and Bellevue responded to the scene. A K-9 unit from Renton also responded, though the search came up empty.

Anyone who was in Newcastle at the time of the robbery and observed any suspicious activity, is encouraged to call the King County Sheriff’s Office at 206-296-3311.

The Newcastle Bank of America is at 6950 Coal Creek Parkway S.E.
