Hazelwood Elementary School students got a first-hand look at all that Newcastle has to offer, when the second graders went on an exploratory field trip through the city June 11.

Students and teachers visited several Newcastle businesses, receiving tours and samples as they went. They were welcomed at Sweet Decadence, the Newcastle Fruit and Produce Stand, HomeStreet Bank, the Newcastle Library, Bellevue Fire Department Station Nine and countless other businesses.

This field trip was a culminating activity for their social studies unit on the community. Their objective was to learn more about the neighborhood and what goods and services are offered in Newcastle.
