The Washington State School Directors’ Association will hold free workshops for school board candidates in June.

The workshops cover a variety of topics on the work of boards, including responsibilities, legal requirements and an overview of education initiatives.

The sessions will be held at locations around the state, but the closest one is June 12 in the Renton School District boardroom, 300 S.W. Seventh St., Renton.

Each two-hour workshop begins at 7 p.m. and will be led by experts on Washington’s local school boards. The workshops are meant to increase understanding of the work of school boards. They do not provide advice on how to run an election campaign.
