Mark your calendars, Newcastle. The city’s annual Earth Day celebration will take place beginning at 10 a.m. April 20 at Lake Boren Park.
Earth Day is a global event that promotes healthy living, sustainable practices, encourages environmental stewardship and offers green products and services from businesses.
At this year’s event, eco–friendly businesses will showcase green products from organic body care products to solar and wind energy solutions that make a difference to the planet and future generations.
It will also feature educational seminars throughout the day, crafts and musical entertainment by the Hazen High School Jazz Band and the Boeing Employee’s Concert Band.
The Pacific Science Center’s interactive “Science in the Environment” displays will be available, while the National Wildlife Federation’s mascot, Ranger Rick, will be on hand to take photos.
Event organizers are currently seeking businesses and nonprofit organizations willing to participate and promote their green products and services at Newcastle Earth Day.
Learn more about participating through a booth, promotion or sponsorship by contacting Grace Stiller at 206-795-5783 or gracestiller@comcast.net, or visit the Weed Warriors Earth Day website at www.newcastleweedwarriors.org.
