Liberty High School cheerleaders hold up the dedication poster to show fans in the stands before the Patriotsâ?? Oct. 5 football game, as the family of Dan Braillard looks on during a memorial observance, after the longtime volunteer announcerâ??s death Oct. 1 of kidney failure.
Dan Braillardâ??s daughters Kim Straight and Michelle Munson (from left), with their aunt and his sister Joanne, stand during the National Anthem on the field Oct. 5 beneath his announcerâ??s booth for nearly three decades. Braillard would always call for a moment of silence after the song to honor American soldiers â??in harmâ??s wayâ?¦ lest we forget,â? before each kickoff.
Dan Braillard is moved by a Christmas present in December 2009, a Liberty Patriot football helmet signed by members of the team which had played in the state 3A championship final that month.
Dan Braillard, the announcer for Liberty High School football and soccer games for more than a quarter century, died Oct. 1 of kidney failure.
