NEW — 10:55 a.m. Sept. 4, 2012
Newcastle residents can comment on proposed updates to the park, trail and recreation chapter of the Comprehensive Plan at a public hearing at tonight’s City Council meeting beginning at 7 p.m.
The public hearing was supposed to take place on Aug. 9 before the Parks Commission, but was rescheduled because the Parks Commission meeting was canceled due to a lack of quorum.
Residents may provide public feedback as the city of Newcastle finalizes the process of updating its park, trail and recreation chapter of the Comprehensive Plan.
The city is seeking input on the types of facilities and programs, goal and policies, level of service, and capital projects residents would like to see or have.
Also on tonight’s agenda, which can be found here, is a proposed discussion about Bellevue annexation.
The City Council will discuss whether to begin preliminary discussions with the city of Bellevue concerning possible annexation into Bellevue.
At a June budget retreat, Councilman Bill Erxleben, with Deputy Mayor Lisa Jensen’s second, said the council should be better informed about what the benefits and disadvantages would be to consolidate the city with Bellevue before taking on long-term financial decisions and requested the subject be placed on a future council agenda.
City Hall’s address is 12835 Newcastle Way, Suite 200, Newcastle, WA 98056.
