The Newcastle Chamber of Commerce, Boy Scout Troop 499 and Cub Scout Troop 497 for the semiannual Newcastle Street Cleanup from 8:30 a.m. to noon April 9. Volunteers will meet at Renton Academy, 6928 116th Ave. S.E.
Organizers will bring equipment, but they encouraged volunteers to bring gloves and reflective vests.
The cleanup typically yields between 20 and 30 bags of garbage, organizers said.

Newcastle will take part in Passport Day USA, accepting passport applications at City Hall, 13020 Newcastle Way, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 9. Call City Hall at 649-4444 to make an appointment.
Bring a certified birth certificate, two passport photos and identification (such as a driver’s license), and be prepared to make two separate payments. You can have passport photos taken at Bartell Drugs, 6939 Coal Creek Parkway S.E., or the UPS Store, 6947 Coal Creek Parkway S.E.

Car theft
A man reported that his Subaru Impreza had been stolen from the Coal Creek YMCA, 13750 Newcastle Golf Club Road, between 5:10 and 6:10 p.m. March 23. He reported that he had locked his vehicle and left his keys in an unlocked locker. When he returned, his keys and his car were gone.
