Principal Stephanie Knipp will present a letter of commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corp., which conducts the program, to the seniors.

Although they will not continue in the 2012 competition for National Merit Scholarships, commended students placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2012 competition by taking the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

The seniors are narrowing their choices for the college application process and scholarship opportunities in preparation for college in fall 2012.
