Two Newcastle residents were injured in a hit and run crash on State Route 520 just west of 84th Avenue Northeast in Bellevue just before 12:30 p.m. April 23.

Stephen Whistom, 53, and Nina Whistom, 56, were driving westbound on the highway in a 2007 Mercedes SL55 when a person driving a 1992 Acura Integra hit their car, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Both cars slammed in the jersey barrier, and the driver of the Acura fled the scene on foot. Stephen and Nina Whistrom were both taken to the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle where they were treated and released.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating the crash. The age and sex of the Acura driver is not known, and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
