NEW — Noon Jan. 4, 2011

The city of Renton will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Jan. 4 at Council Chambers on the seventh floor of Renton City Hall, 1055 South Grady Way, regarding a mixed-use development to be built near Newcastle.

The development is slated to be built on 21.46 acres of land at 4350 Lake Washington Blvd., Renton, with buildings six to seven stories tall, according to the city of Renton’s website.

The project calls for the development to contain seven mixed-use lots that would contain 800 new residential units, 245,000 square feet of office space, 21,600 square feet of retail space and 9,000 square feet of restaurant space. The development would also provide parking for 2,171 cars.

If you cannot attend the Jan. 4 public hearing, submit written comments by Jan. 10, and call the project manager at 430-7314 for information about how to do so.

Visit for more graphics, information and links to officially comment and oppose with the City of Renton. It is hard to grasp the height, density, scale, and impact of this monster, and the Draft EIS does not show how it compares against the rest of the neighborhood. This would destroy what remains of Newcastle residents’ views of Lake Washington unless you speak up.
