To all of the ladies out there afraid to try anything daring with your outfits in fear of committing a fashion faux pas, meet Newcastle-based blogger Rebecca Klein.

The recent Bellevue High School graduate currently devotes her time to creating special-themed outfits on her Eastside Fashion Blog. She makes mash-ups using photos of clothing and accessories from names such as Whitney Eve, Charlotte Russe, Burberry and Victoria’s.

Rebecca Klein attends the Project Greenlight fashion show at the Bellevue Club on Oct. 1, this year in a special-themed outfit, as she reports on current fashion topics to add to her Eastside Fashion Blog. Contributed

Klein, who created the site over a year ago, said in an e-mail that she has always loved fashion. She started the blog in order to help people in the area know what kind of fashion is “in.”

“When I was little, I used to try and find websites that would help me know what kind of fashion was ‘in,’ but I really couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for,” she said.

For one of Klein’s entries, she did find what she was looking for — in Amy Marie Goetz’s collection.

“I spy with my blue/green eye a new fabulous designer popping up in the fashion world!” was Klein’s response to a new line of dresses and tops.

Goetz said she could not be happier about being mentioned in Klein’s blog.

“She understood the creative vision I was trying to accomplish in my initial, very first dress collection on the market,” Goetz said in an email. “She was energetic, accurate and loyal.”

Klein said the blog is updated on a daily basis and has about 500 viewers per day. Each update varies from featuring designers that are “in,” to themes such as Breast Cancer Awareness, Halloween Month or special events, such as fashion shows or birthdays.

Recently, Klein featured Disney princesses that have inspired some of her fashion mash-ups, complete with accessories by designer brands like Marc Jacobs, ModCloth and Asos.

“I’m just having fun with Disney princesses,” she said, “because, let’s be honest, most women my age, at one point or another when they were younger, dreamt of becoming princesses!”

Kara Chin, a blog viewer from Issaquah, wrote in an e-mail: “As I scrolled through the blog, I fell in love with their Disney princess-inspired outfits. I might not necessarily wear the outfit, but the conception was super creative.”

Chin said she first started reading the blog because of the title and being from Issaquah, she “was interested in seeing what Eastside Fashion Blog was all about.”

She said she found the site helpful.

“I really enjoy their updates on new stores in the Eastside area as well, since I’m such a big shopper,” she said.

While the Eastside Fashion Blog has only been online for a little over a year, Klein has already received recognition by being asked to attend fashion shows. Most recently she attended the Project Greenlight Fashion Show at the Bellevue Club, which featured lines including Piazza Sempione, Wolford, Mandy Moon Vintage, Mikele Keiffer Millinery, Barneys New York, Jimmy Choo and Masha Osoianu.

Klein also attended the recent Front Row Fashion Show by Bellevue Collection, “a vibrant fusion of sophisticated shopping and dining” including Bellevue Square, Bellevue Place and Lincoln Square, as noted on the Bellevue Collection website. She blogged about the different fall trends showcased there, noting that fur and feathers, sequined clothes, tall boots, colorful tights and oversized jackets and vests are “in” this season.

The Eastside Fashion Blog has attracted a handful of local advertisers. Klein does not receive compensation for featuring designer brands on her blog, but said she’s content.

“I’m not in it for the money,” she said. “I just love fashion.”

I am sure that Klein means Faux Fur is in this year and not real fur. Innovative fashion guru’s all clearly state Fur Free like Stella McCarthy & Tim Gunn…lets hope Klein sends this message to her bloggers! Real Fur is not only out but its tacky and classless.
