The City Council approved City Manager Rob Wyman’s contract at its Sept. 21 meeting.

Wyman was hired as interim city manager in January, and the council chose to hire him as the permanent city manager Aug. 31.

As decided by the council at the Aug. 31 meeting, Wyman will receive an annual salary of $110,000, and he will not receive a raise of any sort without the approval of the council. The council will review his performance at least once per year.

The contract also states that the council will not require Wyman, a Seattle resident, to relocate to Newcastle, although Wyman and the council both acknowledge that the council’s ultimate desire is for Wyman to move to Newcastle.

If Wyman moves to Newcastle, he will be entitled to four months of severance pay if he is fired without cause.

Wyman will also need to give 60 days notice if he wants to resign.

Councilman Bill Erxleben, Deputy Mayor Steve Buri and Councilwoman Lisa Jensen negotiated the details of the contract with Wyman.
