Police arrested a man in China Creek around 3:45 p.m. Sept. 13 after a resident called to report three suspicious people in the 8300 block of 147th Avenue Southeast.

Residents saw the group knock on a home’s front door, and then enter the back yard after there was no answer, Police Chief Melinda Irvine said.

The residents provided detailed descriptions of each person, as well as the group’s car. Police stopped the car on Southeast 79th Drive and took one man into custody after discovering he had an arrest warrant for misdemeanor assault, Irvine said. None of the three live in Newcastle.

Irvine said residents should call 911 or the nonemergency hotline at 206-296-3311 if they see suspicious activity.

“We would rather contact a legitimate contractor briefly than take a burglary report later,” she wrote in an e-mail.
