All runners are welcome at the last two events in the Cougar Mountain Trail Run series, coming up July 10 and Aug. 14.

The July race is a 10-mile run, beginning at 9 a.m., while the August race is a 13-mile run beginning at 8:30 a.m. The course includes hills and steep changes in elevation.

Registration packet pick-up and the race start will be at the Sky Country trailhead off 166th Way Southeast in Bellevue, near Lakemont. Pre-registration for the races is available online through www.active.com. Early registration for each race costs $35, while registration on the day of the race will be $40.

The series is sponsored by The Seattle Running Club and is used to raise funds for the King County Parks System. Members of the trail-running community volunteer each year to help restore and maintain the county’s trails.

Michael Smith, track coach at Liberty High School, won the last race in the series. The 51-year-old completed the 7.5-mile run in 56 minutes and 3 seconds, beating younger runners by more than a minute.
