Newcastle resident Jane Simmons has been elected as 2010 vice president of the Northwest Ladies Golf Association, a Western Washington nonprofit organization that promotes regular golf play by women of all skill levels.Simmons has been a member of the organization since 1998, and she has served as secretary, president, vice president and board member-at-large since joining.

As vice president, she will serve as somewhat of a “utility player,” providing assistance and advice to committee chairs on the performance of their duties, officials said.

The Northwest Ladies Golf Association has about 175 members in the greater Seattle area. Membership is $55 per year, and the fee includes establishing and maintaining a USGA Handicap Index, officials said.
