The City Council approved a contract with Northwest Landscape Services in a unanimous vote at its March 2 regular meeting.Northwest Landscape Services — with which the city contracted for maintenance and landscaping last year — submitted a bid of $65,165 to maintain nine of the 17 city parks and landscape portions of Coal Creek Parkway.

The bid does not include tasks performed by city staff members and tasks performed through separate contracts, which together cost the city an additional $7,500. The parks not maintained through the contract with Northwest Landscape Services are maintained by city staff members or through other contracts.

Last year, Northwest Landscape Services submitted a bid of just more than $68,000 for the same level of work. However, in the middle of 2009, the city worked with the company to reduce the scope of the contract to help reduce spending. This renegotiation reduced the value of the contract to about $55,000, city officials said.
