McKnight Middle School teacher Dave Black is organizing a spaghetti dinner and silent auction to benefit Haitians in the aftermath of the country’s devastating earthquake.

The event will be from 5-9 p.m. March 5 in the McKnight commons. Tickets are $15 each with children younger than 6 free.

Black teamed up with The Difference Maker Organization — which Newcastle native Mandy Schendel founded when she was a teenager — to produce the dinner and auction.

The event is not affiliated with McKnight or the Renton School District. All proceeds from the event will go to the Red Cross.

“I’m going to give the Red Cross one big, fat check,” Black said. “The fatter the better.”
