Street paving begins in Lake Washington Ridge

NEW — 3 p.m. Sept. 15, 2009

Workers Newcastle contracted from the company Western Asphalt began repaving streets in Lake Washington Ridge on Monday morning.

Southeast 75th Place will be paved from 119th Court Southeast to 122nd Place Southeast, as will 120th Place Southeast from Southeast 76th Street to Southeast 75th Place.

City Communications Manager Doug Alder said residents will have full access to their homes during the project, and work will only be conducted during the day.

City officials expect the paving to take at least three weeks. The project is part of the city’s pavement overlay program.

City hall stairs damaged in car crash

NEW — 9 a.m. Sept. 15, 2009

A set of wooden stairs leading to City Hall was damaged over the weekend when a visitor hit a support beam while driving a car.

The individual had hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. The stairs were repaired by 3 p.m. Monday.
