Erin Hall, a seventh-grade social studies teacher at McKnight Middle School, was honored by the Rotary Club of Renton as one of its teachers of the month for December. As part of the recognition, she received $200 for classroom supplies or instructional materials.

“I was surprised to receive the award, but honored,” she said.

Hall has been teaching social studies at McKnight for seven years. Teaching at the middle school level is rewarding and the students are curious about the world around them, she said.

“I enjoy seeing students make real-world connections and understand current events,” she said.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science/social studies from Western Washington University and a master’s degree in literacy curriculum and instruction from Lesley University.

Hall said she plans to use the $200 to expand her classroom library of young adult literature for students to check out.

WOW! I had Mrs. Hall last year as my honors teacher! She is and will remain my favorite teacher of all time! She has a great sense of humor and treats all of us like we are her extended family. She went above and beyond in everything she did. It paid off too. Social Studies and Language Arts became my favorite classes because of her. I learned so much from her…she knew how to make education fun and exciting for everyone! Everyone in the Discovery class last year had nothing but positive things to say about her! She was everyone’s favorite teacher! She helped me so much in the areas that I struggled in and encouraged me when I did good. Everyone was so excited to go to her class! Whenever we were in a boring class, we all just say, “Dude, I just want to go to Mrs. Hall’s class right now!” I mean, WOW, just WOW! Funny thing is, she never told us about this…haha. This is fantastic! You are the perfect teacher to receive this award Mrs. Hall! Congrads!
Ohhh, P.S. Mrs. Hall is having a kid now so shes not at school. Congratulations Mrs. Hall! I really do hope and pray that everything went well!
